The thing about grocery delivery services.

Is that I don’t use them.

Mostly because I actually like going to the grocery store.

I like to have a direct relationship with all of my food, as often as I can. If I could drive to the farm and pick it myself, or grow it all in my backyard, I would. I like to inspect each piece of produce. Smell it. Examine its vibrancy. Imagine how it’d look in a photograph.

However, this holiday season, I’ve partnered with Shipt to experience their grocery delivery service. And I’m impressed by how much I enjoyed the process. Now in over 72 cities and counting, Shipt works with vetted shoppers to provide you an efficient and personable experience. While my buyer was at the store, they texted me a few questions they had while shopping to ensure my order was accurate. I really appreciated that extra line of communication.

Using Shipt’s mobile app, I put my order together in minutes, checked-out and had my groceries delivered to me in about one hour. If there’s ever a time to use a grocery delivery service it’s now. Holiday entertaining made easy, you know? Start shopping with Shipt, use this code and get ten dollars of groceries on me.

This brie crostini topped with black pepper honey and pomegranate is perhaps the best holiday appetizer I can dream up. It’s salty, decadent, sweet and bright. And it’s adapted from my baked brie recipe featured in FEAST Magazine this month. Along with my column, I have a whole spread on holiday bites and cocktails. Read it virtually here. My work is featured on the cover, and pages 9, 48, 57 – 63. I’m really proud of this one. Enjoy, xx.

This is such a stunning appetizer! I can’t wait to try this on family and friends for the holidays. Pomegranates just always seem to make everything more sparkly and fancy, right?

Wow! Looks beautiful and very tasty! However, using pomegranate seeds, one must be forewarned that biting down on one of these could break a tooth. They look pretty but can be nasty on the teeth. I juice them or just suck on them and spit the interior seed out.

I’ve been eating pomegranate seeds since I was a toddler, and I’ve never felt like they were hard enough to break a tooth! But I suppose I could see that someone may be cautious of this.

I have very similar feelings about grocery delivery. But I also know that if I’d just give it a try, a delivery service could free up a lot of my time, especially for all those last-minute things I forgot to buy the first time. And no matter how I buy the ingredients, I’m just swooning over this gorgeous recipe. It’s vibrant and simple, with all the interesting flavors that make your recipes so darn delicious. Cheers.

I am also farrrr too picky about my produce to let somebody do my shopping for me. But honestly, sometimes, the convenience is just worth it, especially when you find out you’re missing that one thing (or don’t own a car like me and it’s raining outside lol). p.s. Can you just give me all this crostini plz.

Ooooh black pepper and pomegranate sounds AMAZING. and I’m the same – I definitely prefer choosing my own fruit and veggies, but something like this service would have been a life saver during exams haha!
