I love black tea.
I love it so much.
At times, I love it even more than I love coffee.
A cup of black tea gets me.
Especially, Irish breakfast tea.
Bold and strong.
Full of flavor and richness.
The stronger, the better.
According to Wikipedia, Ireland is number two in the world on a list of countries ranked in tea consumption. Pretty crazy, right? The Irish love their tea. So after my trip to Dublin last week {check out my exploring Dublin guide!} I returned to love tea again. I tend to do this. My morning drink routine changes between espresso and black tea and matcha and back to espresso again.
This frothy Irish breakfast tea latte blends together a steeped cup of Assam, milk or cream of your choice, a little pink salt and some healthy fat. Because I’m all about those healthy fats right now. Especially, MCT oil.
MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fatty acid that is derived from coconut oil. Consider MCT oil as a super fuel for your cells. It sparks fat burn, increases mental clarity and helps lower your triglycerides and LDL {the bad cholesterol}.
MCT oil is odorless, colorless and tasteless. I have been using it in raw applications like in my coffee, tea, smoothies and salads. I’ve noticed I stay fuller longer when I consume MCT oil. I also feel a sense of clarity – especially when I consume it in my morning beverage.
I do want to note that MCT can be harsh on your stomach. I learned this the hard way. I was so excited to jump into incorporating MCT oil into my diet that I started with a tablespoon and it caused horrible stomach cramps and pains. If you have a sensitive or moody digestive system I recommend gradually adding this into your diet one teaspoon at a time.
Jump down to the recipe to see which MCT oil is my favorite. This drink is wonderful for those adhering to a plant-based or ketogenic diet. And it is also Whole30 approved.
